Yeah, that one with the sweet picture of J.K. As you can probably tell I'm doing my part to raise money for the charity that is so near and dear to my heart, March of Dimes. For the second year our family team, Olivia's Butterflies, will be walking in memory of our sweet Olivia and in honor of precious Jeffrey.

I'm walking for my family and every family that the March of Dimes has ever touched. My guess would be that this amazing charity has probably touched every family whether they realize it or not. There are too many families struggling with the reality of having a sick baby. My hope is that our small efforts can brighten the day of these families by bringing them hope.

When I think of March of Dimes I'm reminded of the day Jeffrey was born. It is because of God's amazing grace, my wonderful doctors and the research of this organization that I was able to make it to 36 weeks. If it weren't for my cerclage, weekly P-17 shots, terbutaline, home uterine monitoring and bed rest, I don't know that J.K. would have been born a healthy baby. I'm fairly certain that the March of Dimes had a hand in making each of these medical resources available to so many Moms like myself.

I know that it seems like I'm constantly blogging about charities or ministries. I guess that's just where God is leading me. Birthday Party Fun!

We spent a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the park for Cousin A's 2nd Birthday Party! I can't believe she's already 2-years-old! All of the kids had a blast playing at the park. Here are a few pictures from the day.

What a Day..

To say that yesterday was challenging would be an understatement. I knew that when I was led to Footprints Ministry that the time would come when we would eventually be reaching out to families who have lost a baby. That dreaded day came last Thursday when Baby Caleb passed away. This family has been so special to our little ministry for quite some time and we have all been mourning the loss of this sweet baby. We know that he is perfect now and being held in Jesus' arms, but we're still sad. His Mommy Tyesha has been amazingly strong over the past week and I have been blessed by her friendship. Yesterday afternoon Rhonda, Nicole and I all went to Caleb's Celebration of Life to show God's love to this family who needs it now more than ever. Please keep Tyesha and her entire family in your prayers through the coming weeks and months.

On a happier note, the Birmingham Footprints volunteers made more than 50 bags on Saturday! It was so exciting to see so many new volunteers who were willing to give of their time to show support to these NICU families. After Caleb's service Nicole, Rhonda and I stopped by St. Vincents to deliver the bags. Here are Nicole and I showing off the loot as wanna be "Price is Right" models! :)

When He Grows Up..

J.K. wants to be just like his Daddy..

He loves to play "dress-up" with Daddy's shoes.

His Daddy's hat is one of his favorite accessories. Whenever he sees it lying around he grabs it puts it on his head.

He wants to be like Mommy too. He just loves this book that his Aunt Temple gave him for his birthday. It goes with him EVERYWHERE, even the high chair at lunch time. By the look on his face, I can't say that he's enjoying his lunch as much as the book.

I'm a Sewing Diva

For Christmas my sweet Hubby gave me a sewing machine. I'm fairly certain that he expected it to sit in a box and eventually be sold on eBay. However, I have proved him wrong, for I am a sewing diva!! My Mom gave me a gift certificate for sewing classes and I now have a new addiction, hence the lack in blog posts! See example #1:

This is my first project. It's a Johnny romper for J.K. I was super impressed with my mad sewing skillzz! I know it doesn't have buttons. We're learning how to make button holes tomorrow. It's a work in progress people!

I was so impressed with myself that I went out and bought another pattern. This is a little dress that I'm making for my adorable niece Addy. She's going to look absolutely precious in these spring time colors. And yes, I know there are no buttons, I'll finish it this week.

A Silly & Lazy Weekend

We had big plans for the weekend. It was going to all begin with birthday dinner for Hubby, family pictures on Saturday morning and off to hang at Temple & Matt's Saturday evening. Unfortunately Hubby caught J.K.'s daycare crud and we ended up eating a pizza at home on Friday night and sleeping until 11 on Saturday morning. So needless to say there was no birthday dinner of family photo shoot. We were able to make it Temple's house and we had a blast. She made a "Red Vest Birthday" cake for Ben. We always tell him how sexy he is in his red Lowe's vest. So Temp just took it a step further and created a red vest cake masterpiece. I didn't have my camera with me, but I'm sure she'll send me one soon. Anyway, even though the weekend wasn't as lively as I'd hoped, we still had a blast just hanging out and being silly.


J.K. is such a silly boy these days. Yes, that would be a sock in his mouth. I don't get either!


He was worn out after church on Sunday. He ate two bites of his lunch and drifted off to sleep in his high chair. I just love this boy.


Yeah, he's all boy. He's turned rocking horse into an obstacle course.
